Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Gabrielle. She was a very pretty and smart little girl. Gabrielle had beautiful LONG brown hair. She lived with her family in a small fishing village near the ocean.

Gabrielle's family was very poor. Her father was a fisherman and he had not caught any fish for a long time. They desperately needed money to buy food, clothes and pay their bills. Her parents were unable to find other jobs so they decided to ask their greedy rich aunt from the city for a large sum of money to pay their bills. She was a mean aunt, but she decided to give them the money under one condition. They would have five years to repay her the money. At that time, if the money was not paid to her, she would take the little girl to live with her.

Five years went by. Gabrielle's parents could not pay back the money. The wicked aunt came to get Gabrielle. She took her to the city and brought her to a skyscraper. She locked her into an apartment at the top of the building. The only way into the apartment was through a small window in one of the walls.

Gabrielle's only company was two birds named Blackie and Homer and the wicked aunt who came to visit. Blackie and Homer would fly in through the window to get into the room. The aunt would come to the bottom of the building and yell, "Gabrielle, Gabrielle, let down your long brown hair."

One day when the aunt yelled, Gabrielle let down her long brown hair. The wicked aunt climbed up Gabrielle's hair. She jumped through the window. The wicked aunt yelled at Gabrielle, "Why haven't your parents paid me back. I will never let you out until your parents pay me back. Maybe I will NEVER let you out!" The wicked aunt was so mad she turned her face as red as a devil and grew horns out of her head. Gabrielle screamed with terror. The aunt laughed an evil laugh and grabbed Gabrielle's hair and yelled at her to let her down to the ground. On the way down, the wicked aunt cut Gabrielle's hair. Now no one would be able to help Gabrielle get out!

What the wicked aunt didn't know was that Gabrielle had two special friends. They were Blackie and Homer, the two birds. The two birds flew in the window when they heard Gabrielle scream. As they flew in the two birds noticed a small bottle on the floor. Gabrielle had learned how to talk to the birds over the years. They asked her, " What is this?" Gabrielle said, " I think it's ink." Homer asked, "Is it food?" He stuck his wing in the jar and then took a taste, but when he tasted it he started to feel funny. All of a sudden, he transformed into a really big bird. Gabrielle fainted and tipped over the rest of the magic ink. The two birds tried to fan her to wake her up.

The two birds who really liked Gabrielle hatched a plan. They decided to put Gabrielle on Homer and fly her out. There was only one problem. Homer couldn't fit through the small window anymore. Blackie tried to help by slurping up the rest of the magic ink, thinking he could help Homer break the wall and fly Gabrielle out.

However, the magic ink did NOT turn Blackie into a bigger bird. He turned into a rich young man. He was dressed in black pants, and had a black leather jacket with a red patch. He had jet black hair.

Homer kept pecking with his beak. The young man unscrewed a steel table leg and used it to help Homer to make the hole bigger.

Finally the hole in the skyscraper was big enough for Homer to fly through. The young man and Gabrielle climbed on Homer's back and they flew home to the fishing village.

Gabrielle's parents were surprised, but very happy to see her. The young man shared his money with Gabrielle's parents. Now they were rich. They paid back the money they owed the greedy aunt and became friends with her.

Gabrielle and the young man got married. When the aunt cried at their wedding, one of her tears fell on Homer and he turned back into a small bird. Everyone lived happily ever after.
